Overview

A leading industrial heating equipment manufacturer received turnkey orders to deliver two gas cracking furnaces for a global petrochemical major in Maharashtra and Gujarat. Executing two furnaces in parallel created complexity across design, procurement, fabrication, and import coordination. Several challenges surfaced even before fabrication matured.

1. Interlinked PO Dependency Risk: Delays in coils, structural steel, burners, transformers, or instrumentation cascaded across dependent purchase orders, increasing overall schedule vulnerability.
2. Engineering Approval Delays: Multiple iterations of drawings, QAPs, schematics, and bought-out lists delayed manufacturing readiness, with E&I packages facing the highest impact. 
3. Non-Executable Vendor Schedules: Vendor Gantt charts did not reflect forming, welding, NDT, PWHT, plate rolling loads, or RT booth availability, resulting in overstated progress.
